The American Medical Association recently announced 2 CPT Codes for reporting COVID-19 Antibody testing: (86328 and 86769)
The CPT codes and long descriptors are:
- 86328: Immunoassay for infectious agent antibody(ies), qualitative or semiquantitative, single step method (eg, reagent strip); severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) (Coronavirus disease [COVID-19])
- 86769: Antibody; severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) (Coronavirus disease [COVID-19])

The AMA also revised the CPT code for SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid tests (86318).
Currently, providers need to manually upload these code descriptors into their electronic health record systems. These codes will be available in the CPT Code set data file for 2021 later this year.
